About the service

What happens after I submit? Are your team pushy?

One of our solar specialists gets in touch within 24 to 48 hours of submitting. They're Australian, trained to give you straight answers, and they don't work on hard-sell commissions. If now isn't a good time, just let us know and we'll work around you.

Do I have to pay anything to use the service?

Nope. Solar Power Savings is free for homeowners. We're paid a finder's fee by the installer when you go ahead, and only if you sign a contract you're genuinely happy with. No upfront cost, no obligation.

What's the catch?

Honestly, there isn't one. But we'll be straight: solar makes sense for most Australian homeowners, but not all. If your roof is heavily shaded, you barely use power during the day, or you're planning to move within 18 months, we'll tell you that when we get in touch.

Are you affiliated with any specific installer?

No. We're a matching service. We work with a network of CEC-accredited installers across Australia, and we match you with whoever's best for your roof and postcode. We don't push a specific brand of panel, inverter, or installer.

What happens to my data?

We pass your name, phone, email, postcode, ownership status, and bill range to the matched installer so they can get in touch. That's the entire purpose. We don't sell your details to any other party, run paid ads at you, or share your data with the federal/state rebate schemes (those are claimed by the installer separately).

About the rebates

Is the rebate real, or am I getting hustled?

100% real. The Small-scale Technology Certificate (STC) scheme is a federal program legislated under the Renewable Energy Act 2000. The rebate comes off your invoice at point of sale, so you never receive cash directly, you just pay less for the system. State rebates work the same way.

How much is the federal STC rebate worth in 2026?

For a typical 6.6 kW system, the federal STC rebate is worth roughly $1,000 to $1,650 depending on your STC zone (state). The exact number is your system size × STC zone rating × 4 deeming years × $38 per certificate. The deeming period drops by one each 1 January until the scheme phases out on 31 December 2030.

Can I stack the federal rebate with state programs?

Yes. Active 2026 stackers are NSW (PDRS per-kWh battery + VPP sign-on), VIC (Solar Homes $1,400 panel rebate + $1,000 hot water rebate), WA (Residential Battery Scheme), and the ACT (Sustainable Household Scheme low-interest loan + Home Energy Support rebate). Several big programs have closed in 2024–25 — see /updates/ for what's still open.

Are rebates really shrinking?

Yes. The federal STC deeming period drops by one year each 1 January until the scheme ends on 31 December 2030 — that's a ~25% step-down in dollar value per year. Several state programs have already closed (QLD Battery Booster, NSW Empowering Homes, VIC Solar Homes battery loan, TAS Energy Saver Loan, SA Home Battery Scheme, NT Home Battery Scheme). Locking in this year's stack is measurably more valuable than waiting.

Do I claim the rebate myself?

No. Your CEC-accredited installer handles all the paperwork. The federal STC rebate is applied as a point-of-sale discount. State rebates are claimed by the installer on your behalf.

About the follow-up

What does the specialist follow-up actually cover?

Four things: (1) Confirm your address and current electricity bill. (2) Right-size your system based on your daytime usage and roof. (3) Walk through every rebate you're eligible for. (4) Match you with one CEC-accredited installer. About 15 minutes. No high-pressure tactics.

When will I hear back?

Within 24 to 48 hours of submitting the quiz. If you need a specific time window, mention it on the quiz and we'll honour it.

Do I have to do the quiz, or can I email instead?

The 30-second quiz is the fastest way — it gives your specialist the context (postcode, bill, roof type) to bring real numbers to the follow-up. If you'd rather email, reach us at hello@solarpowersavings.com.au and we'll take it from there.

What if I'm not ready to install yet?

That's fine. The follow-up is informational. You can ask questions, get a number for your address, and decide later. We don't pressure you and we don't bill you for it.

About installation

How quickly can I get solar installed?

From quote to install, typically 4–6 weeks. Bigger jobs or strata properties can take 8–10 weeks. We'll give you accurate timelines once you pick an installer.

Which states do you cover?

All eight: NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, WA, TAS, ACT, and NT. We have CEC-accredited installer partners in every state.

What if I rent?

Solar is harder if you rent, but not impossible. Some states (VIC, ACT) have rental-specific rebates, and we can help you pitch it to your landlord. Worth a 30-second check.

What if my roof is shaded?

Mild shading is fine — modern panels use microinverters or optimisers to mitigate it. Heavy shading (a single neighbour's tree blocking the whole north face) is a problem, and we'll tell you honestly when we get in touch if it doesn't stack up.
